Google’s Public Data and Optimal Health

Really enjoying the seriously large amount of data available and how we are only just now beginning to mine it.  Reading Shawn Rogers post on Is Google getting into Business Intelligence? which lead me to Google’s Public Data Explorer project.

The immediate thing I saw was the visualisation comparing life expectancy vs fertility rate when compared against ethnicity.  Extremely interesting, especially considering my wife’s work in optimal health and nutrition.

When you take the amount of data we have available, combine it with today’s compute power and visualisation, especially GIS tools; we have the ability to inspect data like never before.  Data will finally become information and something we can make meaningful decisions on to build valued added services
